A Life of Possibilities

Time certainly has a way of changing us, for the better we all hope.

However, there are some days where it seems to be a bit more difficult to see that hope, to still be optimistic, and days in which the possibilities for our future are a bit more hazy. We have all experienced those kind of days! It seems the longer we live the more we realize, life is never predictable. Yet just as true, God has a way of never wasting those devastating moments in our life, instead He uses them in a way we often can’t even imagine.

Have you ever noticed that as our hearts become more pliable it is easier to adjust to God’s plans? When life is flipped upside down why not flip our perspective as well? When we adjust to God’s eternal way of thinking then our eyes can begin to refocus as well. That is when you and I begin to see that no matter what may come our way we will always have a life of possibilities when God is in control. For He has a much grander and more magnificent plan than you or I could ever imagine.

Help me Lord, to look to You as each day is dawning,

With the possibilities that You saw long ago.

Not to be overtaken by shadows that absorb the awakening sunlight,

But rather set afire by the sparkle that only You Lord, set aglow.

You and I have seen many a miles together,

Some over rugged and rough terrain,

But Lord, You never gave up even when You had to carry me.

For that I thank you, my heart will never be the same.

How naive were my ideas of this life in the beginning.

Dreams that were sought, I now know were never meant to be.

Instead You replaced those with the beauty of Your plan, Lord

And the longer I serve You, the sweeter those losses I now see.

So this morning as we begin another day together,

I pray as I reach for Your hand one more time.

Lord, help me to grasp the opportunities You set before me,

As I embrace this day of possibilities, following the plan You have in mind.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,

“plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I love the image of taking his hand! I can imagine that from the perspective of being a child and reaching up to grasp a warm, strong, and gentle hand. At the same time, I can imagine that from the parent perspective, reaching down with so much love, to hold the tiny helpless hand of a child in need of guidance. How much love our heavenly Father must have for us?! Thank you for this reassurance this morning!
