Does She Have it Together?

How often do we look at another woman and think to ourself, “Does she have it together?” The funny thing is, many times that other woman has just looked at someone else and thought the same thing.

It may surprise you to know that some of those women who are tall, extremely witty and funny, or that petite lady who is cute and full of energy, or even the larger woman who we all know as jolly, curvy and often spontaneous; they too can have their own shadows lurking in the corners of their lives.

But the reason some of those ladies appear to have it together is they finally admitted, “I DON’T have it all together and I never did!” Like many of us, they struggle with what can’t be seen, with what is often hidden beneath the surface, and very rarely discussed. Things we prefer to keep hidden in the shadows.

At the point of realization, they finally took off their mask of pretense and began sharing their own journey. They found the light of God’s truth was what they needed to break through and penetrate even their deepest heartache. Once that was done, they found hope restored along with their child-like heart of faith.

The opening up of Your Word gives light.
It gives understanding to the child-like.
(Psalm 119:130 NLV)

Something wonderful was now happening in their lives. Specifically, they found that the more areas of their life they gave over to Christ, the more “together” their life became. Together, with Christ, they were able to see God’s illuminating truth and His power to change lives. Hope and joy replaced the shadows of their life. So now, they truly have an answer if asked, HOW they got their life together.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him,
so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
(Romans 15:13 NIV)

For many years I know people thought I “had it together” not knowing the deep pain that was hidden in my heart. When I was finally able to fully face it and put it in it’s proper place, God was able to lift me out to that darkness and truly bring me into His light and life. No one really knows what goes on in another’s life. Give it all to the one who created you.

This quote, that I read today, seems to wrap up how much God cares for every single detail of every minute of all of our life, past and present. His hand and heart is BIG enough to take care of it all. And I love the way this woman explains it in the simplest of terms, He doesn’t fail us…
“He who cares for the sparrows and numbers the hairs of our head, cannot possibly fail us.”—Hannah Whitall Smith
