Hand Holding Trust: Loved, Wanted, and Chosen

Have you ever watched a little child reach out and take the hand of someone close to them? Their hand holding trust is so innocent, so simple of an act, yet it is a magnificent display of security and trust.
Children have a way of showing their trust and acceptance by simply reaching their hand over and slipping it into yours. On the other hand, they are often intuitive enough to know when to reject the hand of someone who is not trustworthy. That is why you can know, when a little one gives you their hand they are giving you an honorary position. Within that little grasp is every confidence that you are worthy of their hand holding trust.
Hand holding trust is not limited to children. Adult hearts can benefit from a little hand holding too!
I can think of times through the years when the hand of another was the greatest gift imaginable. To them it may have been just a courteous gesture, probably nothing momentous at the time. But in that particular moment of my life, in that particular circumstance, their hand reaching back and taking a tight hold on mine is what gave me strength. Allowing God to use them through that simple act of kindness gave me a renewed sense of confidence and it also put a spark of hope back in my eyes.
God has a way of letting us know we can trust Him. He more than any other, is worthy of that trust. His words and actions show us we need never be afraid. We can rest secure in knowing He is always with us. He has shown His love by not just holding our hand, but He goes much farther. He has chosen us as His own, declaring a victory over our life.
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Isaiah 41:10 NLT
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
The concept of being chosen can sometimes be difficult to grasp, especially if you’ve ever had someone reject you in life. The Good News is, God will NOT reject you!
You are loved! You are wanted! You are chosen!
It may take a while to wrap your head around such a gift, but once this gift is accepted, and then embraced, you can then begin to realize a new found confidence. God’s declaration, that He is YOUR God has a way of setting in motion a new awakening deep within our soul, it gives us hope and a steadfast security. Security that gives us the confidence we need to reach up and to slip our hand in His. We can trust our very lives are in His hands. That is part of the beauty of His gift;
God’s steadfast and strengthening grip firmly claims us forever His own.
We see this very truth written in His Word. He will not reject us, nor walk away from us. He will go so far as to call us back from the ends of the earth. From places of hurt and pain, from places of desperation and darkness, there is no place too far for Him to go, or for His hand to reach. For we can trust that no matter what is in our past, He will reach there and beyond, even to the farthest ends of the earth to let us know, we are not throw aways. WE ARE HIS!
I have called you back from the ends of the earth,
saying, ‘You are my servant.’
For I have chosen you
and will not throw you away.Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Isaiah 41:9-10 NLT
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
