In My Garden

Today is suppose to be a hot one!

The weather forecast is calling for an air quality alert and a high of 93. Yet this morning, there’s no sign of what is going to happen later today. Right now it is 62 and there is a cool, crispness in the air. Stepping off the back porch into the garden you can see the sun peaking through the trees. The air is warming and the morning dew is almost gone. I truly love being in this place, especially this time of the morning. This IS my happy place; right here in my garden.

This isn’t a large garden, instead there is a variety of pots filled with flowers, herbs, and vegetables. Other than when my hubby and I  were first married and lived in an apartment, we have always had a garden. Some have been much larger than others and some were more vegetables than flowers, but no matter the size or what was growing at the time, just being in the garden has always been a cherished place for me. It’s the place I can go and sit and feel the Lord’s presence while taking in the beauty of HIS magnificent creation.

Do you have a place like that in your life? One where just being there can transform your heart and your mind? A place that stirs a heart of gratitude while calming the busyness of your mind?

For me this happens as I slow down and take the time to see the plants sprouting, the flowers blooming, and the birds flying back and forth. It is a Holy place, because it is here I can feel and see the intricate details of God’s handiwork unfolding right before my very eyes.

Have you ever noticed how the gift of our Lord’s presence brings with it a sense of peace and serenity? No matter where that special place is, for each of us the gift IS the same: it is the Lord. For it is in His presence our heart finds joy, comfort, and a restoration of hope that our God is now and always will be in control.
